Love the Earth

|

Google's Doodle for Earth Day 2012Google is celebrating Earth Day 2012 with a Doodle today - a day founded in 1970 as an effort to raise awareness about the environmental concerns facing our world. Celebrating it's 42nd birthday this year, it started in the United States, but is now commemorated in over 175 countries. It's a day we pause and take a minute to reflect on the beauty and fragility of our home planet.

I'm constantly sharing articles on how we need to love ourselves, and each other, but we must love the Earth just as much as any living thing. Nature is not selfish, in that it doesn't care for itself when we damage it; therefore it falls to us to make sure the selfish ones take care of her and are careful not to damage her.

Nature is all about maintaining balance between polarities, of give and take - and what we take we must give back. What we take as energy and nutrients from the Earth whilst alive, we give back in death. We go from the earth, back to it, and fill up the hole we carved up for ourselves in life. We are interconnected and linked as closely to our planet as as the umbilical cord between mother and child.

In my "Treat Yourself with Love" post I wrote in March, I spoke about how we must all do our bit to reduce our burden on the world, because we can't live healthy on a sick planet. And today more than one billion people around the globe will participate in Earth Day 2012 and help Mobilize the Earth™, with events held worldwide to increase awareness and appreciation of the Earth's natural environment.

I am attending a local Earth day event today, and if you care about this home of ours, I urge you to discover your local Earth Day mobilisation centre and do your bit to voice your appreciation for the planet and demand its protection.

Together on this day, we will stand united for a sustainable future and call upon individuals, organisations, and governments to do their part. We need to elevate the importance of environmental issues in a show of love for this precious home of ours, which is the only one we have, and which we must share with all its living inhabitants in harmony.

If you care about your future, and the future of your loved ones, then show your love for the Earth today.

Yours in love,

Mickie Kent
