Live a Connected Lifestyle

At the end of every day, I write a few words to sum up what has given me the most joy. Usually, very simple things are involved, and more often than not they include my twin flame.

But these small details cover other things that are also important in my life. For instance, I feel happier if I've wasted less that day, or helped reduce my own carbon footprint - so that my burden on the planet, which carries and sustains me, weighs a little less.

Because we can't live healthy on a sick planet. If we deplete our natural resources we're going to realise pretty quick that we aren't designed to eat plastic or money. In 1854, Chief Seattle of the north-west Native American tribes handed over his territory and his people to the sovereignty of the United States with a speech that serves as an inspiration to the ecological movement a century later.

"Teach your children what we taught our children that the earth is our mother. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the Earth. If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves.

This we know - the Earth does not belong to man - man belongs to the Earth. This we know. All things are connected like the blood that unites one family. All things are connected."

It is this connection that binds us both in body and in spirit to the world, to one another, and to ourselves.

When we understand this, we can all treat our own terrain - our lifestyle and immediate environment - as we need to treat the world at large. With the right amount of respect and the right amount of give and take.

There will be times when we all feel betrayed by life and by own body, but in reality, it is our betrayal that comes back to haunt us. A lifestyle filled with bad habits will accumulate to come back and bite us in the proverbial butt with a vengeance, because we haven't treated ourselves with the requisite love and attention.

In my next post, I'm going to throw out some suggestions on how we can change our lifestyle for the better by taking a serious look at our "terrain".

Yours in love,
